Sharman Joshi

Sharman Joshi (born April 28, 1979) is an Indian film and theater actress. Sharman has performed, produced and directed plays in English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati, but is known primarily for his work in Bollywood. He made his acting debut in "The Godmother" (1999).

Joshi married Prerana Chopra, daughter of actor Prem Chopra on June 15, 2000, at the age of 21. The couple has a daughter Khyana born in October 2005 and twin sons Vaaryan and Vihaan born in July 2009 .

He completed his education at Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics in India.

He made his debut as an art film Godmother in 1999. This was followed by Style (2001), produced by N Chandra. Style is the sequel Xcuse Me (2003) and Shaadi No. It led to other comedies like 1 (2005). In 2006, he starred in Rang De Basanti. Later that year, he starred in the comedy film Golmaal. In 2007, he starred in Life in a ... Metro, Dhol and Raqeeb. The following year, I saw him as Hello's character Shyam, an adaptation of Chetan Bagat's novel One Night @ the Call Center. Sharman Joshi starred male in Sorry Bhai! One of the three characters (Raju Rastogi) in the 2009 film 3 Idiots, based on Chetan Bagat's novel Five Point Someone in 2008. He also played a police role in the erotic thriller Wajah Tum Ho.

Sharman Joshi has directed and starred in various theatrical performances. He starred as a deaf character in the Gujarati version of the popular play All the Best, with over 550 performances in three years. Another of his popular comedy plays was "Ame Layi Gaya, Tame Rahi Gaya," with four roles. In 2016, he made his directorial debut with Hindi ROMCOM <Main Ortum>. He starred with Tejashree Pradhan.

He made his debut as a co-starring actor in Bollywood (Hindi) film style (2001). Following Rang De Basanti (2006), Golmaal (2006), Life in a ... Metro (2007), Dhol (2007), 3 Idiots (2009), Ferrari Ki Sawaari (2012) ), Hate Story 3 (2015), Mission Mangal (2019). He starred in the Bollywood movies Kaashi in Search of Ganga (2018) and 3 Storeys. He is best known for his role as Raju Rastogi in the movie 3 Idiots. He made his digital debut in 2019 with a male lead as opposed to Asha Negi with Balaji Telefilms' production Baarish.

Sharman Joshi belongs to the family of Gujarati actors and performing artists. His father, Arvind Joshi, is a veteran of the Gujarati Theater and his aunt Sarita Joshi (Bhosle) and cousin played in the Marathi and Gujarati theaters. His younger sister is actor Manasi Joshi Roy, and his brother-in-law is actor Rohit Roy.

In 2009, he hosted a game show called PokerFace: Dil Sachcha Chehra Jhootha, based on a British game show called PokerFace, at Real T.V. He was honored as a lifetime member of the International Film and Television Club of the Asian Film and Television Academy. Sharman did a typecast during his career and commented on this at the TEDxYouth @ OIS TEDx conference in Mumbai in January 2017.
